In the Cotswolds and
nearby, the entire history of Britain and Europe can be discovered.
Within a few miles you will find Neolithic burial sites, Roman and
Romano-British villas (complete with their mosaics), Saxon chapels, a
wonderful array of churches and cathedrals plus romantic castles and
manor houses.
There is even an entire 18th century Georgian city
(Bath, now a World Heritage Site), and a surprising heritage from both
the Industrial Revolution (a tunnel that was the longest in the world at
the time of its construction) and the Arts & Crafts Movement
(William Morris lived and worked here).

The evidence of at
least three thousand years of history and the effects each era had on
the landscape and the lives of the people are all clearly visible, once
you know what to look for.
A journey through English history by travelling through the
Cotswolds can easily be devised. Or you may prefer to concentrate on one
aspect, for example, the Medieval Wool Trade, for which the Cotswolds
were known throughout Europe in the Middle Ages. Whatever your
interests, please contact us.
